As u mentioned
Deepak s one such amazing person..We luv him for what he is.. π
And all the very
bestπ₯° Keep going❤ππ»”
I receive this
message from Sumi , one of my colleague .
Reading this
early morning was like start of the day rewarding myself .
You don’t really
know how you bring a positive impact in someone’s life , I did receive many
messages posts of course for writing “I am” but when you know someone has faced
challenges and would like to bring the change within that’s when I think I make
a difference .
I received
another message maybe after an hour ago from Ann-
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐π
I am SO PROUD OF
YOU πππ
I love your
confidence to share your story.
Your journey and
our formed connection is truly meant to be, a planned miracle.
I love that you
are blogging and sharing. You know as I’ve always mentored “knowledge is power”
and kindness matters.
I’m so so proud
of you and beyondπ
I’m so touched I
wished to speak face to face so I can speak directly to you but I show it’s
6:53am in morning. But if in cab on way to work, Face Time me.
Please keep
sharing your story..”
I thank all the
readers :)
I started writing
I AM because I believe living in the present and hence all my blogs would be
only about how you change yourself , how you create a positive environment
around you.
Making a
difference , when you hear this what do you think about ?
I never understood unless Deepak told me during one of our conversation , he happened to say
that –“But they are not making any difference hence are in the same role “
A happy work
environment attracts people and helps us do best for the company.
I’ll share my
best experiences that I have learnt at workplace.
So my first work
place, it is definitely a happy environment and I was lucky to meet people who
influenced and shared knowledge.
Working with
Deepak and his team was more like working to build ideas and trust, My Job
designation, my job role or title did not really matter as I have explained in
my first blog.
Working with him
I had learnt to demonstrate ownership and leadership in every role that was
given to me.
So when I talk
about making difference it is not just about helping the poor or being
part of social welfare .
It is about how
important your presence is wherever you go,
You can talk
about making a difference or You make a difference.
Well, since I am
writing this for people who are working I shall relate things to work
environment and share ideas in this blog.
So it is like
Regardless of your job title, your role can make a difference, It shows the
leadership and ideas .
I remember when I
was asked to handle newly formed team I did not realise why was i asked to go
there and maybe after working few days with them I understood their challenges.
It took about a
week for me to get along with these guys but meanwhile I also did ask Deepak as in
how long will I be here and if I’ll be going back to my previous team soon ,
(That was my senior role) and he always kept saying once this team is
stabilised .
He said –“You
were here because management thinks that you can make difference, they trust
you and hence have given you this role”
Well , this is
not something new for me the reason being I have been working with Deepak for long
and there is no such job which is too small, Even the smallest
job matters.
It is all you ,
your role , how you take it and how much difference you make .
I must have taken
2 more different roles so far after this I believe …
Now when I say
making difference.. it is not at all about your performance review or meeting
your numbers , it’s more like personally recognising and rewarding yourself.
When someone from
management believes in you and asks you to take up a role because they believe
that you can do it ,isn’t it like rewarding yourself personally ??
So here are few
things which are I think important to carry in day to day not only professional
but personal life when you really want to make difference and transform every
job into a positive experience.
The most important
thing before all is :
Be transparent
and ask –
If you have a
question, then ask.
Deepak has always
encouraged an environment where you are open to ask him anything, Be
transparent , Honest and share results .
I was asked to
reach out right people and learnt to adapt things to be flexible and handle
things more efficiently .
Too often it
happens that employee makes up his own answer or they share what they think the
manager wants to hear.
Someone who
doesn’t know the answer also makes up his own answer with a fear of not
disappointing the person asking the question. So this is not an option to
expand your knowledge , it is okay to question top level and take time and get
back to your customer or whoever it is .
Listen :
I believe that Listening is equal to learning .
Whether you are
in higher level position or a new bee for more knowledge it is important to
share ideas of course ..but yes very important to listen .
Listening to them
will help you know the individual and build trust.
If you put your
ego to the side, you’ve got a better chance of dealing with difficult people at
work.
You got to be
more open to people when it comes to work , its then when people start
approaching you .
Find what’s
missing :
When you want to
make something different you need to step outside and find an opportunity.
Think of an idea … be It streamlining the process or anything which you think is
missing and you bring it to notice that everyone else is missing .
This new start
will give you more exposure because you have come up with the idea , you have
the thought process .
Few of us do want
to change anything but just follow what has been thought by our seniors.
But you will make
the difference if you come up with new idea and find if there is something
missing and you make can make it better.
With this
attitude you will learn to take up initiatives and demonstrate leadership
qualities.
Show Empathy :
This is something
that I understood during my soft skill training sessions but could never
implement it for first few months.
So this is
something that I had learnt from school environment and my parents of course ,
But never knew if
this will really work in bringing the change in work environment .
Other than this
as I have shared few points in my previous blog “Be the Change “ where I have
discussed about Gratitude is again very important when you make difference .
So I have learnt all this from few people at workplace , I hope you enjoyed learning this.
Now do not just
work for the sake of it but let your presence make the difference!!
Nicely done pooja. Its always appreciated when we bring new ideas onto the table over existing ones. However some people see this as a threat to their own existence and things take a different turn. Its equally important that everyone are on same page.
ReplyDeleteIt's always helpful to read your blogs. Thanks π
